Montreal Family Photographer | What is family photography for me?

I totally love photographing families. I love setting up a family photo shoot where we can capture all the good stuff, the messy stuff, the crazy stuff, the stuff that makes for real family photography. These are special occasions where the kids and babies can do their business. My clients want an alternative type of family sessions not so much in studio, but photography done outside in the sun, summer or fall where the fun can be at it’s peak.

What happens during our session? What is family photography for me?

Kids are hilarious and I want to capture tons of fun images of your children during our session. This type of family photography will 100% make beautiful memories so that all the new photographs and portraits of you as parents will have you laughing and smiling big every time.

About this shoot:

The images in this post are from a very recent shoot with two of my wedding clients from a few years back. It’s great to meet up with them after a while and setup a session full of beautiful moments, special moments, and all that everyday life stuff I love to capture during family portrait sessions. Montreal is an amazing place for families and children to grow up since there are so many great places to visit and spend time together. I’ll show up with a camera or two in my hand, and we’re good to go.

family photography

I photograph a ton of weddings every year and sooner or later these couples begin to have families of their own and think back about how easy and relaxed I made them in front of my camera. I get a lot of kind words from my clients and I'm always thinking about how I can make my next session even better. I'm not a boudoir photographer, a newborn photographer, or maternity photographer, (actually I'll definitely never offer newborn photography because I prefer to get crazy and messy and let the kids be kids). Is it all kinda cheesy? Yeah, definitely cheesy, sometimes, but I love cheese, and when it comes down to it I know kids love to see images of themselves when they were young. I mean, my kids looooovvvee the collections of images I made of them when they were little, and it never gets old.

I want to Moms and Dads to have a few minutes just for them as a couple again because for real, parenting is a ton of never ending work, and it’s beautiful, but it’s not always easy. Often there are late nights, sick days, laundry, and alllll that. Parents need a photo update every now and again and that’s when I get them right back in the saddle and get them to spend a few minutes together all wrapped up in one another. It's a great way to wrap up my sessions and make sure everyone feels good, everyone had fun, made a zillion-jillion great photos, the baby is happy, and another epic session for next level family photography. Win-win.
