Soooo much to share from this gorgeous Fonderie Darling wedding styled by Elyna Kudish to celebrate amazing times with Katrina and LP ~ the awesome duo travelling from NYC whom you may remember from that heatwave ice cream shoot last summer here. This venue is a dream, and the darling never disappoints. It was A+.
It was the real deal darling.
This gallery style Montreal wedding was designed by the 110% on-point amazing Elyna Kudish, of Unity Events. The work this team put into every event is pure love for their couples. The details and vibe they created for the ceremony was perfect and at night the ambience shifts into an amazing scene to capture. I knew I wanted my photos to capture all the jazzy wild feeling on the dance floor, because the Dj is was on point and knew the vibe the couple wanted. The Fonderie Darling has a very industrial vibe, kind of like the city warehouses I used to go to parties at. These are honestly my favourite spaces and Montreal has more than a few of them. With a large empty space, the design and planning can be ny type of vibe the couple wants, and this is where expert planning comes in. Photography in some ways becomes more like exploring the space in a fun and curious way rather than trying to force the lights and decor to what some people want it to look like. It's more fun to create this way, and wedding photigraphy should be fun. The Fonderie is an industrial gallery space perfect for art shows, exhibitions, but it's also the perfect place to party The venue is beautiful, it's long with super high ceilings which make it feel unique, spacious, and open. Guest love the vibe of the place, and with a great designer the space can be totally transformed into a temporary art exhibition, just for your wedding.
Contemporary gallery cool.
Being there to document unique weddings like this are always a great experience, and I was super happy for the opportunity. Katrina and LP's Montreal wedding day was mostly relaxed and chill, the two got ready with family until people began to arrive, excited to see thier wedding go down!
The reception was crazy fun as the many speeches often had guests in tears, which was beautiful to see, and normally one of my favourite times during a wedding.
This Montreal wedding was one I won't likely forget anytime soon. Have you seen the images with LP and Katrina wth all the money stuffed into thier straps and jacket? These two were walking around the space with a money stuffed everywhere possible! I personally enjoy seeing these traditions, and that evening had plenty of them.
Art + Montreal wedding day = true love.
This is an industrial space, but still felt warm and comfortable for the guests. Speaking of guests, I love taking two of them and creating formal yet contemporary portraits during the reception. The dj's hired for this event definitely brought the heat to the space, and without trying to much quickly had everyone in the room included two dancers channeling some long forgotten art that only the Darling could bring out of them.
Many times young photographers ask me how to get better at shooting in a more candid, natural way, some might call documentary style, and the only advice I can give is:
follow the action, stay curious, learn to see light, and never put your camera away.
